The study on the comparative Effect of Different Indigenous Materials as a Source Of Ethylene Gas on the Ripening of Latundan Banana (Musa sapientum var. Latundan) was conducted to determine the effects on the ripening of latundan banana. This expirement was carried out at Mindanao State University - General Santos City campus, College of Agriculture building from March 18 to March 27, 2019. The study was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treaments replicated three times. Treatments were the following T1 - control (no application ), T2- three kilograms of madre de caocao leaves, T3 - three kilograms of Acacia leaves, T4 - three kilograms of Neem tree leaves, T5 - three kilograms of rice straw and T6- commercial ripening agent (ethrel ) respectively. The result revealed that using rice straw, ethrel and without application of leaves or any sort of ripening agent effectively ripened the bananas as expected. However, bananas that are intended to be ripened with madre cacao leaves, Acacia leaves and neem tree leaves did not ripen effectively and have spoiled and deteriorated instead.
