DUBSMASH AS A COMMUNICATIVE ACT

Author
Krystal Shane E. Pana
Abstract

This study is qualitative descriptive research that accumulated existing information and data regarding the communicative acts in Kalyeserye of Eat Bulaga. The study utilized Saussure's Model of Communication to determine the interpretation of the content. According to Saussure, the way the human mind perceives the meaning of a word or a thing is when the interpretation occurs. Vicker provided a checklist as a basis for analyzing communicative acts per episode. The results showed that the most used communicative act in the show was the act of expression of feelings since the show's central concept was the love story of the AlDub tandem. The characters express their emotions through dubsmash as a medium of communication with the contribution of nonverbal communication le, gestures, and facial expressions. The communicative acts found help primarily in determining the interpretations of the message. Thus, the messages, even with dubsmash, can be interpreted by how they were perceived.
