This paper discussed the degree of pragmatic competence of the Grade 10 students of Labangal National High School in speech acts. There were three problems stated in this study, which are as follows. The degree of competence of the students in Expressing facts and feelings through speech acts and identifying the meaning or force of an Illocution. Among the testing variables, where do students find more difficulty with and Which among Searle's taxonomy in the illocutionary act do students often use in their day-to-day communication. The research was conducted randomly on 120 Grade 10 students, and the study employed a quantitative descriptive design.
Moreover, in answering problem number 1, the construction of a rubric was necessary; the categories in the rubrics are Proficient, Sufficient, Tolerable and No answer or .very erroneous. Based on the findings, Proficient students in producing Locutionary act got 47.33 %. At the same time, Sufficient students got the mean of 30 33 % in producing Illocutionary acts. In the Perlocutionary act, students who got the correct answers were 59.83%. Moreover, in Searle's taxonomy, students got 64.33% correct answers. Therefore, Grade 10 students of Labangal National High School are Moderately Competent in producing Locutionary acts and Lowly Competent in producing Illocutionary acts. Moderately Competent in accomplishing a Perlocutionary act; and Moderately Competent in identifying the Mocutionary force in an utterance. Moreover, the most used function of language by the students is Directives. The researcher recommended taking into account the assessment of pragmatic competence, especially in secondary institutions.
