Abstract

The study on the effects of foliar spray and soil drench application of bakers yeast on kangkong (Ipomoea aquatica) was conducted at the College of Agriculture Experimental Area, Mindanao State University General Santos City from November to January 2017 on a pot container. The experiment was laid out in a two-factor factorial experiment in a Complete Randomized Design (CRD). The mode (control, foliar spray, soil drench spray, and foliar + soil drench spray) and period of yeast applications (10, 20, and 30 days) had served as the variables of the study. It was found that the treatments showed highly significant effects on the number of stalks, length of stalks, number of leaves, leaf weight and plant weight of kangkong. The combined effect of application of foliar and soil drench of baker's yeast was found to have more promising effect than other yeast treatments on the growth and yield of kangkong. Likewise, results disclosed that it is better to apply yeast at the advanced stage of growth of kangkong.
