Abstract

The study was conducted at Mindanao State University-General Santos City, Agronomy thesis area from September 21, 2017 to January 10, 2018. This study used a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five (5) treatments replicated three (3) times. The objective of the study was to determine the optimum distance of planting for hybrid corn (P3374 YR). The treatments for the furrow distance were as follows: T1- Control (70cm), T2 (65cm), T3 (60cm), T4 (55cm) and T5 (50cm) and the distance between plants is 25 cm. The result indicated that plant height was significant at 5% level. This showed that the closer furrow distance tends to increase the plant height. However, parameters like the days to tasseling, silking, ear length, and grain yield were not significantly affected by the different furrow distances. This showed that the optimum distance of furrow for P3374 YR was 70cm.
