Abstract

This pot experiment was conducted in the experimental area of Mindanao State University- General Santos City. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used in this pot experiment with four treatments replicated seven times, the treatment. used was T1- No application; T2-5 tbsp. Vermicast ; T3- 1% of yeast solution; T4-5 tbsp Vermicast + 1% of yeast solution before sowing the seeds. The data gathered in this study was the survival rate, mortality rate, number of leaves and biomass. The effects of yeast soaking and vermicast solutions in seeds of radish was not enough to minimize the damping-off disease infestation in the plant. Nonetheless, the survival and mortality rates of radish seemed to be influenced by the vermicast and yeast treatments but not at a substantial level. Likewise, the number of leaves and biomass production of radish were slightly increased but not at a significant level with the application of yeast and vermicast application. It is recommended to explore other methods of application of yeast and vermicast solutions such as as soil drench technique for better control of soil borne diseases.
