Abstract

This field study was conducted from July to September 2018 at Barangay San Jose, General Santos City. This study aimed to determine the factors and effect of foliar application of baker's yeast solution and its appropriate level on the growth and yield of Asparagus under Barangay San Jose, General Santos Condition. A Randomized Complete Block (RCBD) design was used in this experiment with three treatments replicated three times. The treatments were as follows. Treatment T.- (Control) no application, T2-1% (990 ml of H2O + 10 g of Yeast), and T3-2% (980 ml of H2O + 20 g of Yeast). All data were collected after the practice of cutback in asparagus spear production. The result disclosed a significant effect obtained on Total Yield (tha) of asparagus spears as affected by foliar application of Baker's Yeast Solution. On the contrary, no significant result was obtained from Length of Harvested Spears (cm), Circumference of Spears (cm), and Number of Spears per day per hill. It was found out that the optimum level of baker's yeast application in asparagus was 2 percent (T3) (980 ml of H2O + 20 g of Yeast) enough to influence all the parameters tested in this particular study.
