This study was conducted from December 2020 to April 2021 at Mindanao State University-General Santos City. This study aimed to determined and evaluate the effect of bacterial antagonists as biological control against rice leaf blight in brown rice variety.
The purpose of the experiment was to determine the effectiveness of the antagonistic bacterial isolates as biological control against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae as well as their relative effect in Brown Rice variety to be grown under net house condition. A Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used in this experiment with six treatments replicated three times. The treatments were as follows: Treatment 1- Control, Treatment 2- ALE25, Treatment 3- MDE06, Treatment 4- KBO4, Treatment 5- KAT12, Treatment 6- KBE25.
The diseased progressed was relatively slow based on descriptive statistics having only reached a mean of 3.36% DLA on the final day of observation (16th day after inoculation). Nevertheless, results show that disease progress was relatively faster for Treatment 2 following a mean of 3.49% and was relatively slower for Treatment 4 which had a mean of 3.30%, both in comparison to control treatment. All other treatments (treatments 3,5 and 6) had relatively slower disease progression than control.
