This study was conducted in the barangays of General Santos City from November 2021 to December 2021. This study aimed to assess the socio-economic conditions of cocolumber retailers with their current status as cocolumber in General Santos City. Specifically, the study aims to the demographic characteristics of the cocolumber retailers, their marketing practices, the operational practices, the profitability of the coco lumber business, and policy implications.
The list of cocolumber sellers was taken from the Licensing and Business Permit Office at the City Hall of General Santos City. A guide question was used during the personal interview to gather the needed data from the cocolumber retailers.
Results showed the major problem that they have encountered in their business. Lack of supply and no fixed market ranked high, followed by no fixed price. The findings show that all retailers sold cocolumber by the board foot and paid cash to cash.
Most respondents run their enterprises 9-10 hours a day, Monday through Saturday. The study showed that the cocolumber business in General Santos City is profitable since their return of investment is positive, with 370.35% for the owner and 185.67% for tenants. One's income determines the standard of living. The more the income, the higher the living standard.
