COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF VENDO AND TRADITIONAL CARWASH IN GENERAL SANTOS CITY

Abstract

This study was conducted to compare the traditional and vendo car washes in General Santos City. This study specifically intended to determine and compare the traditional and vendo car washes' socio-demographic profile, their operations, marketing practices, other services offered, profitability, and problems they encounter. There were a total of 48 respondents, in which 24 are registered traditional car washes and 24 are registered vendo car washes. Data were gathered through the use of survey questionnaire and a personal interview. In analyzing the data, cost and return analysis was used to compare the profitability of the car washes. Other data was analyzed and presented using descriptive analysis. Based on the analysis, the traditional car wash is slightly advanced than the vendo car wash in terms of profitability; but nonetheless, both car washes generate positive return on investment. It also showed that traditional and vendo car washes have almost the same socio-demographic profile data and other business information, such as the tenure status and the problems they encounter. In addition, the data also showed that traditional and vendo car washes differ from each other in terms of their schedule of operations, services offered, and marketing practices. Traditional car washes have quite a number of services offered and marketing practices than the vendo car washes, thus, allowing them to generate higher income and higher return on investment. Moreover, it was found that owners of both traditional and vendo car washes consider investing in other related businesses, attend trainings or seminars, and check their machines regularly to prevent their business from experiencing trouble during operations. Hence, for traditional car wash owners, they may invest in diversified car wash services and extend their hours of operation at night to generate an increase of income. On the other hand, vendo car wash owners invest in automated shampoo and automated air pressure to attract customers and generate additional income.
