Flocculation of water involves the use of flocculating agents to bring the suspended matter for settling and filtration stage. This study aimed to examine the effects of Leucaena glauca seeds on the physical parameters such as temperature, color, turbidity, total suspended solids and total dissolved solids; chemical parameters such as pH and total hardness; and microbiological parameters such as total coliform and fecal coliform on Silway River water. Color units were increased with the application of Leucaena glauca seed flocculant. On pH, Leucaena glauca showed a slight decrease on the value showing a positive response. Turbidity, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids, total coliform and fecal coliform values also shows a reduction using Leucaena glauca seed flocculant. Leucaena glauca seeds have added to the hardness of the water. Statistical analysis showed that Treatment 2 which was 100mg / L and Treatment 3 which was 150 mg/L Leucaena glauca seed flocculant shows significant difference on turbidity, total suspended solids, total coliform and fecal coliform. The rest of the parameters did not show any significant difference. It has been found that Leucaena glauca seed flocculant was effective in reducing some of the parameters such as turbidity, total suspended solids, total and fecal coliform. These initial findings revealed the potential of Leucaena glauca seeds as flocculants in water treatment facilities.
