This paper presents data of an ecological study on the avifauna of Calapagan and Marayag, Mati, Davao Oriental. The survey was conducted from 11-16 June 2009 in the mountains of the study area. All encountered birds were counted. Transect survey method was done throughout the study. The avifaunal survey detected 2,082 individuals representing forty-two (42) species. Eighteen (18) of the 42 bird species are Endemic. Among the forty-two (42) species of birds that occur in Calapagan and Marayag, Mati, Davao Oriental, one (1) species was enlisted as "Endangered" and three (3) are "Near Threatened" and one (1) is "Data Deficient" according to "2004 Red List of Threatened Species" by IUCN (2009). The study investigates the composition, relative abundance, and diversity to provide baseline information about the birds in the area. It will also identify which species are most likely to be at risk and which species needs conservation.
