Collaborative learning skills have potential contribution to the academic success of the pupils. This study aimed to determine the influence of collaborative learning skills to the academic performance of the pupils in Science.
This study employed correlational research design. It involved two hundred six (206) Grade VI pupils who were officially enrolled in Elementary School located at Prk.5, Lanton, Brgy. Apopong, General Santos City during the school year of 2016-2017. To gather the data, the researchers utilized an adapted and modified survey questionnaire. The researchers administered the survey to determine the collaboration skills of the learners. The statistical tools employed were frequency count, percentage rate and t-test for dependent sample.
The results of this study showed that the pupils have moderate level of collaborative learning skills and average level of academic performance. Moreover, the result showed that collaborative learning skills significantly influence the academic performance of the pupils. It is recommended that the teacher may use the collaborative learning skills to enhance the academic performance of the pupils and let them exposed to work with their peers.
