THE NEXUS OF PARENTING DIMENSIONS AND PERPETRATOR BEHAVIOR: BASIS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCHOOL ANTI-BULLYING INTERVENTION

Abstract

Bullying has become a significant problem among pupils in every school for years. This study aimed to determine the relationship between parenting styles and bullying behaviors. This study employed to survey, interview, and correlational analysis that identified the parenting dimensions that produced perpetrators of bullying. The respondents are the Grade V pupils of Calumpang District Elementary Schools in General Santos City, Philippines. Following the survey method, tailored questionnaires were used to gather the needed information. The statistical tools employed in the analysis were frequency distribution of responses, percentage rate, weighted mean, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results revealed that the parenting styles heavily affected the perpetrator behavior/s of the pupils. Hence, this study concluded that different parenting styles significantly influence a child's bullying behavior/s.
