The diversity of spiders and beetles were assessed in seven barangays of Maasim, Sarangani Province namely; Daliao, Kablacan, Kabatiol, Poblacion, Colon, Malbang, and Kamanga from November 2003 to February 2004 using Cruising Method. The samples were either handpicked or trapped and subsequently prepared for classification and identification. Results revealed a total of 807 individuals of spiders belonging to thirty- seven (37) species and twelve (12) families. For the beetles, 582 individuals were collected belonging to twenty-two (22) species and ten (10) families. Computed values for species diversity of spiders revealed that Barangay Malbang was the most diverse (4.01), followed by Barangay Daliao with a value of (4.89) For beetles, Barangay Daliao was the most diverse with a value of 4.08, followed by Barangay Malbang with 4.01.
