Abstract

A study on Anti-pyretic potential of Yerba Buena (Mentha cordifolia) Injected to Swiss Albino Mice, was conducted on February 25 to March 1,2002 to find out the anti- pyretic potential of yerba buena plant and to determine the active principles of yerba buena by histochemical test. Results showed positive result, no squirming was observed which means that the extract of yerba buena plant posses anti-pyretic potential similar to the control (paracetamol). Results of histochemical test shows the presence of alkaloids, glucosides, tannins, saponins, organic acids and fats and oils. Since the anti-pyretic potential of yerba buena was determined it is recommended that preparation of this into table or syrup. Preservation, conservation and propagation of this plant be done to be made available in the future.
