THE MOLLUSCIDAL EFFECT OF MAKABUHAY (Tinospora rumphii) STEM AND SANSAU (Cissampelos pareira) ROOT ON GOLDEN KUHOL (Pomacea canalicuta)

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the significant effect of makabuhay (T. rumphit) stem and sansau (C. pureira) root on golden kuhol (P. canalicuta) and which proportion has the highest rate of mortality. It was conducted on October 25 to 30, 1999 at Bringas' Residence, Maitum, Sarangani Province. The experimental design carried out was Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with eight (8) treatments replicated three (3) times. Treatment 1 (T1) contained 100 ml water and 500g makabuhay stem. Treatment 2 (T2) contained 200 ml water and 500g makabuhay stem. The third and fourth treatment (T) & T4) also contained 500g of makabuhay stem but with 500 ml and 1000 ml of water respectively. The remaining four treatments carried 3g of sansau root but with varying proportion of water. Ts had 100 ml, To had 200 ml, T7 had 500 ml and Ts had 1000 ml of water. To determine the significant effect of the different proportions, One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used and to determine their gaps another statistical tool was used, the Least Square Difference (LSD). As revealed by the ANOVA computations employed in the study, computed / values higher the critical values, makabuhay stem and sansau root both have significant effect as a molluscide against golden kuhol. Among the four (4) proportions of makabuhay stems, T₁ is the most effctive which contains 100ml water and 500g makabuhay stem. On the other hand, the proportion of sansau root are all effective against golden kuhol.
