This study sought to provide information on Moro female teenagers engaging in haram relationships, their understanding of the Haram relationships, across religious prohibitions. their lived experiences of the relationship, and how they cope with their relationship.
This is a qualitative study among eight (8) Moro female teenagers. They were selected through a non-probability purposive sampling. A self-constructed key informant interview guide was used in data gathering. Data were analyzed by reading and rereading interview transcripts to identify key themes that would serve as the foundation for writing the Moro students' stories. The findings of the study revealed that Moro female teenagers do understand and are aware of the term and meaning of "Haram relationship," but this does not stop them from engaging in a haram relationship. The majority of the participants enter a haram relationship due to curiosity, peer pressure, and their own willingness to engage despite knowing it is haram. Furthermore, all of the participants struggled to keep their relationships hidden from their families. Most of the participants decided to end their relationships and concentrate on their studies. Haram relationships have impacted the Moro female teenagers' ability to concentrate on their studies.
Moro youth leaders or Sangguniang Kabataan officials may conduct programs like seminars or symposiums that aim to talk about having good values and being modest and chaste as a Moro. Also, to the DepEd, they may continue to carry out their programs, particularly the Alive subject which aims to improve Moro students' understanding and awareness of Islam. This may help Moro female teenagers to better understand the meaning of the Haram relationship and how it affects their lives in this world and in the hereafter. The said seminar or symposium can strengthen their Imaan. It will be led by the community's Ustadz.
